Text description provided by the architects. Echegaray is a residence that emerges from a rocky terrain; likewise, the project itself is a solid black stone topped with a wooden pavilion. The dark, enclosed quality of the private area—representing the bedrock of the site—and the lightness of the public area with its panoramic view generate thresholds designed to be discovered, creating a sense of both intimacy and openness.
